Petaling Jaya: Another lawmaker has become a victim of an explicit video generated by AI.

Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee tse revealed that he received a deepfake porn clip featuring his face.

Poor said he received the video via email on Monday (September 15th) at 5:30pm.

He claimed that he was a doctor using artificial intelligence technology, and was clearly intended to smear his reputation and put political pressure on him.

“This obscene video is fake and malicious. It's a cyberattack aimed at hurting my image as an MP and as a politician,” he said in a statement Monday (September 15).

He added that several other lawmakers had been targeted by similar politically motivated cyberattacks.

He emphasized that this trend is extremely harmful.

“I urge the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take prompt action to protect our dignity,” said Pua, who is also vice-chairman of Johor PKR.

Poor said he would file a police report and complaint with MCMC on Tuesday morning (September 16).

He also called on the government to speed up the introduction of laws to curb abuse of AI technology.

“Don't spread the false content. We must protect political integrity and our country's democracy,” he added.

As of today, at least 12 MPs, including Communications Minister Fami Fajil, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adri, Deputy Ministers Chang Feng Hin, Rafiji Ramri and Wong Chen, reported that they had received almost identical emails.

The email threatened to release LEWD videos generated by AI unless they paid USD 100,000.

Authorities confirmed the images were deepfake and said police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission are investigating the issue.
