The new facility will focus on advances in Equifax's global AI research and development.
Global data, analytics and technology company Equifax has officially opened a new “state-of-the-art” AI innovation lab in Wexford, Ireland. The first focus of the new lab is Equifax's research and development into AI-driven solutions for credit risk assessments to support decision-making of fintech and financial institutions.
Multinationals specialize in credit and demographic data and services for business, selling credit surveillance and fraud prevention services directly to their customers.
With support from IDA Ireland, the lab brings together highly skilled data and technology experts to work with the next generation of AI solutions to improve decision-making, consumer experience and help global organizations reduce risk.
Equifax says this will be achieved by developing advanced AI models, machine learning algorithms, and data analysis tools to address the complex challenges faced by businesses and consumers.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and with 15,000 employees worldwide, Equifax is located in North America, Central and South America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
The lab has been reported to bring new jobs to people in the area, and although it is currently unknown, it will rise to at least 100 experts.
Deirdre O'Connor, Regional Development Director at Ida Ireland, said:
“Equifax's decision to expand its presence at Wexford is a testament to Ireland's position as a hub for global innovation and AI. This brings Wexford's Equifax employment to 100 employees and is pleased to see that we hope to be successful in this AI innovation lab.”
Paul Heywood, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Equifax Europe, added: “We are extremely excited to expand our Wexford team through the Wexford team and our 30-year presence in the town of Wexford is evident in the capacity and expertise of the Irish market, especially the southeastern market.”
