ChatGpt went first, Google went second, and Alibaba's Quark rose to ninth.

Applications of AI

The global landscape of consumer-grade AI applications is stable, but competition at the top is becoming more and more intense.

The latest released list of global top 100 generation AI consumer applications shows that ChATGPT continues to hold the top position, but Google (Googl.US) has significantly narrowed the gap through its multi-product matrix strategy, with General Assistant Gemini capturing about 12% of ChatGPT's web traffic, ranking second.

China's AI products are strong in the global market, with Alibaba (09988) Quark AI Assistant rising to 9th place on the web, while Bytedance's Doubao ranks Twelf. This list shows that out of 50 web applications, three products are primarily serving Chinese users. Meanwhile, seven more products developed in China are primarily targeting overseas markets.

Google will be occupying four positions in the list for the first time by individual domain names, introducing the effectiveness of its AI product matrix strategy. In addition to Gemini, the developer-focused AI studio has made its first top 10. The academic research tool NoteBookLM came in 13th, and the AI experimental platform Google Labs came in 39th.

The competitive landscape in the mobile sector is even more intense, with Gemini's monthly active users approaching half of ChatGpt. The X Platform Grok Assistant has rapidly accumulated over 20 million active users per month from the zero starting point at the end of 2024, ranking 23rd in the mobile sector. China-developed mobile applications account for almost half of the list, with 22 of the 50 mobile applications developed by the Chinese team estimated.

Google's Multiproduct Matrix was the first independent listing.

For the first time, Google has enabled independent tracking and ranking of AI products through its domain separation strategy. Gemini ranks second on the web, with traffic reaching around 12% of ChatGpt and monthly active users of mobile are nearly half of ChatGpt, showing strong growth momentum.

AI Studio, a sandbox platform for developers, has successfully entered the top 10 successful users in building Gemini Multimodal Model applications. Notebooklm ranked 13th after separating from Google Labs, and the academic research tool has shown stable growth over the past year, with a slight decline during the summer academic user exhaustion period.

Google Labs ranks 39th and hosts several AI experimental projects, including the Video Model Veo 3 and the clothing trial application DOPPL. Data shows that after the launch of VEO 3, Google Labs has seen traffic rise by over 13%, marking the largest monthly increase in the past year.

The globalization of AI products in China has increased dramatically.

Among the products that serve users in China, Alibaba's Quark is 9th, Bytedance's Doubao is 12th, and Kimi is 17th in the Dark Side on the Moon, with over 75% of traffic coming from China.

What's even more noteworthy is the globalization trends of products developed in China. According to statistics, seven AI products developed in China serve overseas markets, primarily video generation models such as Deepseek, Hai Luo and Ke Ling, as well as video generation models such as SeaART image generation tools.

The benefits of Chinese products in the mobile sector are becoming increasingly prominent. Of the 50 mobile applications, 22 are developed by Chinese teams, but it is estimated that only three will primarily serve the Chinese market. Meitu offers five applications, and Bytedance launches four products, demonstrating powerful features in mobile AI product development.

Fierce competition for general assistants

ChatGpt maintains its major position, but its competitors are quickly filling the gap. The Grok on the X platform has been particularly good in the mobile sector starting from scratch at the end of 2024. Currently, it boasts over 20 million active users per month. Following the release of the new model Grok 4 in July, mobile usage has skyrocketed by nearly 40%, with animated character Ani further driving user growth.

META's AI assistant has experienced relatively moderate growth, ranked 46th on the web and failed to make it into the top 50 on mobile. After its launch at the end of May, its growth was slow, with incidents occurring in June, with public information streams having further impacted user trust.

After experiencing the peak in February, Deepseek has found a decline, but the confusion continues to maintain strong growth across all platforms. Claude is experiencing sustained growth on the web, but it is slowing down mobile growth.

“Atmosphere programming” is a new growth point

AI assist programming tools are becoming a new growth area. Following the March rankings with only one product, Bolt, Lovable and Replit successfully entered the main rankings, making a beloved jump to 22nd place, indicating a rapid increase in AI application generation in the field.

User-retention data indicates that this trend is not merely a passing phenomenon. Consumer Edge's credit card panel shows that the American user base of its major “ambient programming” platforms exceeds its revenue retention rate by 100% within months of registration, suggesting that users are not only retained, but also increased usage.

These platforms also drive the growth of related infrastructure products. Database service provider Supabase's traffic growth is in close sync with the core ambient programming platform, and has accelerated significantly over the past nine months compared to the past few years. Websites built and launched through Replit and Lovable provide significant traffic to their respective platforms and demonstrate ecosystem effects.
