As Splight manages grid assets of over 3 gigawatts, we aim to use fresh capital to accelerate the deployment of Dynamic Masmestion Management™ at Grid Systems across from us. Europe
San Francisco, August 26, 2025 / prnewswire/ – SpriteA US-based grid technology company has deployed a machine learning solution that unlocks the capacity of crowded electric grids, today $12.4 million A safe fundraising round led by Blue Bear Capital, with participation from Zoma Capital. This funding will support Splight's continued expansion North America and Europefocusing on expanding both commercial and technical teams during unprecedented growth in electricity demand from the electric grid worldwide.
“Our technology solves one of the most urgent issues facing today's grids: a way to deliver more power without waiting to build a new transmission,” said Fernando Llaver, CEO and co-founder of Spright. “This new capital will allow us to expand our flagship Dynamic Muse Management™ product deployment by unlocking the types of transmission capacity that grid participants urgently need, such as AI data centers and utility-scale grid resources.”
With the new funding, Splight will:
- Accelerate the deployment of Dynamic Congestion Management™ (DCM) in the USGrid congestion and decades of transmission structure timeline reduce renewable energy resources and multi-year grid interconnect queues for new generations and large-scale loads.
- Launch new technical featuresinclude:
- Data Center AI-enabled electrical research: Splight's new approach to electrical research brings outdated processes into the 21st century and takes into account new capabilities based on real-time data that shortens the interconnection timelines of data centers.
- Enhanced DCM™ Algorithm: A new feature to help grid participants navigate evolving requirements for integrating new, large loads.
- DCM™ Sandbox: A new modeling tool that streamlines the ability of operators to visualize potential DCM-enabled transmission gains in virtual grid environments, including a demo control center in a Sprite's extended SF office.
- Real-time Simulation (RTS): A new solution validation feature that allows engineers to perform hardware-in-the-loop testing directly on the Sprite Technology platform.
- Expanding the headquarters footprint San Franciscomoved to new office spaces along the Embarcadero to nurture personnel for Bay Area-based technology and product teams.
Splight's DCM™ solutions use advanced machine learning algorithms to safely and reliably unlock the capacity of existing transmission lines, and are rapidly adopted across a wide range of regions and regulatory environments. Unlike dynamic line rating (DLR) solutions that rely on weather and other variable conditions, capacity increases are limited – DCM™ introduces a whole new layer of grid reliability by ingesting real-time grid data and using a brand-new machine learning algorithm to add all fast response ascents (FRAs) to the Garidd. Using Splight's DCM™ technology, FRAs such as battery storage and data centers become operational tools that can consistently unlock up to 100% of the transmission capacity of existing infrastructure (depending on system characteristics).
“From the moment we met the Splight team, we were impressed by the team's deep operational knowledge of grids and their machine learning expertise,” he said. Caroline Funka partner at Blue Bear Capital. “Its unique background and proven track records for global deployment give key energy infrastructure operators the confidence to deploy Spright's cutting-edge technology across the grid assets that form the backbone of our economy and society.”
Commercially, the new capital supports Spright's go-to market strategy for DCM™ technology. Because the company works to reduce transmission congestion for both renewable generators and heavy loads of certain nodes. North America and Europe. DCM™ is deployed by utilities to provide additional transmit capacity, increase overall system operational reliability, or deploy at large loads that are constrained by the inability to access individual renewable power plants or transmissions, or provide a targeted approach to achieving speed and BYOTC options (providing unique transmission capacity).
