Over the next five years, artificial intelligence (AI), big data and security management experts will be the fastest growing jobs, according to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Employment Report 2025.
The report was released days before the WEF Annual Meeting held in Davos from January 20th to 25th, saying that work disruptions amount to 22% of employment by 2030.
The study also showed that 170 million new jobs would be created by 2030.
“Technology change, geoeconomic fragmentation, economic uncertainty, demographic changes and green transitions, in individual and combined, are among the major drivers expected to shape and transform the global labor market by 2030,” the report states.
The information presented by the Future of Jobs Report 2025 is the result of data collected from over 1,000 leading global companies, representing over 14 million workers across 22 industrial sectors and 55 economies worldwide.
60% of employers said they expect growing digital access to be the most transformative trend in their business.
AI and machine learning, software and application developers, and fintech engineers came up with the fastest growing work in percentage terms, the report says.
Meanwhile, the role of frontline duties is projected to witness the greatest growth in terms of volume absolute terms. These include care economy jobs such as farm workers, delivery drivers, construction workers, salespeople, food processing workers, and nursing professionals.
Top 10 fastest growing jobs by 2030
According to WEF's Future of Jobs Report 2025, the top 10 fastest growing jobs by 2030 are:

- Fintech Engineer
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning Specialists
- Software and Application Developers
- Security Management Specialist
- Data Warehousing Specialist
- Automotive and electric vehicle experts
- UI and UX Designers
- Light truck or delivery service driver
- Internet of Things Specialist
In particular, artificial intelligence is transforming industries around the world, with half of its employees planning to use it to harness new opportunities. Of these, 41% plan to cut the workforce for automation, and 77% cut to increase workers.
It is one of the skills that will increase over the next few years between 2025 and 2030, reflecting the widest range of skills including AI, big data, cybersecurity, creative thinking, multilingualism and other.
According to future Jobs reports, AI and big data showed a net increase of 87%. This is the highest rise in any skill, with 70% networks and cybersecurity in close proximity.
Ensuring that technology-related skills are not the only skills, creative thinking reached the report with a net increase of 66%.
The lowest increase skills were 12% “reliability and attention to detail”, −4% for “reading, writing, mathematics”, and -24% for “manufacturer, endurance, and accuracy”.
Insights on India
In India, particularly, increased digital access, geopolitical tensions and climate mitigation efforts are key trends that are expected to shape the future of employment by 2030.
The report points out that Indian companies are investing heavily in AI, robotics and autonomous systems along with energy technology.
“Indian employers are also planning to outperform global adoption with certain technologies, with 35% expecting semiconductors and computing technologies, and 21% expecting Quantum and encryption to translate operations,” a report from WEF said.
Big Data Specialists, AI and Machine Learning Specialists and Security Management Specialists are listed among India's fastest-growing roles.
In particular, the list of the fastest declined jobs was topped with postal service clerks, bank tellers, related clerks, data entry clerks, cashiers and ticket clerks. Other jobs include printing and trade workers, accounting, bookkeeping and payroll officers, material recording and stockkeeping clerks, transportation attendants and conductors, law secretaries and telemarketers.
