(Web Desk) – On Saturday, Pakistan approved its first National Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy, marking a major milestone with the goal of creating 3 million jobs in the AI sector by 2030 and increasing the country's GDP by 7-12%.
The Minister of Information Technology, Shaza Fatima, described this policy as a comprehensive roadmap designed to be responsible and securely developed AI technology, placing it in place so that Pakistan competes effectively in the global AI landscape.
She emphasized that the initiative aims to open doors for international collaboration, innovation and economic growth while strengthening the local technological ecosystem.
In related news, the federal cabinet has officially approved the National AI Policy 2025.
Minister of Science and Technology, Khalid Magsi recently met with Pakistan's Romanian ambassador. There, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the science and technology field.
Romania invited Pakistan to participate in the European fundraising programme. This is a move that Khalid Magsi said could unlock the country's new technological opportunities.
He said Romania has emerged as a key hub for Europe and expressed enthusiasm to strengthen tech sector relations with Pakistan.
