American television host Chris Cuomo is cut off after falling over a clearly marked parody AI video of Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
On Wednesday, News Nation host and former CNN host Cuomo took to Instagram a video that was prominently evident and evidently evident as a “deepfake” video created using AI technology. It portrayed the fake Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, claiming on parliament floor that the recent Sydney Sweeney ad touted her “great jeans” was racist.
Cuomo rebutted under the video. “There's nothing about Hamas or the people burning Jewish cars. But Sweeney Jeans ads? It was worth the time on the floor of Congress.
Ocasio-Cortez responded to this post, “This is a deepfake guy. Use your critical thinking skills. At this point, I'm reposting Facebook memes and calling them journalism.”
Cuomo then deleted the post, but in response to Ocasio-Cortez on social media, he doubled his criticism of her.
“I think you were about to reply to me and instead burned this tweet to ether,” replied Ocasio-Cortez. “You seem to be having trouble figuring out how to write an apology. Need help? You need to call someone.”
Cuomo took his unapproved tour to News Nation, saying in a post:
He then protested. “She ignored some of the important tweets.”
And he followed up again by complaining about Ocasio-Cortez. “It's easy to correct mistakes… so is explaining why you don't call terrorists to surrender.”
Cuomo's blunder and non-implicit follow-up were thoroughly chuckled online. His fellow television personality Pierce Morgan posted:
Ocasio-Cortez approved and continued to publicly support Zoran Mamdani at the Mayoral race in New York City. Mamdani defeated Cuomo's brother Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary and faced him again in November, and Cuomo will now be voted on as Independence.
Chris Cuomo was fired by CNN in 2021 after news channels discovered new information about his involvement in helping his brother defend his brother against allegations of sexual harassment.
