AI and Machine Learning Wins YouTube Emmy Awards

Machine Learning

YouTube TV won its first ever Technical Emmy Award for a series of “Views” features that allow users to see key plays, player stats and game scores for sports highlights.

The gong in question was snappy, titled “AI-ML Curation of Sports Highlights”. Views automatically creates highlights from key moments in live sports matches on YouTube TV.

The service currently operates only in the United States and covers baseball, basketball, American football, hockey, soccer and golf.

“We would like to thank the Academy for this recognition by Google. We are working on it,” Kathryn Cochrane, group project manager for YouTube TV, said in a blog post.

“Views came out of a team brainstorm about five years ago and launched about a year after YouTube TV,” added Cochrane.

“Many of our viewers are avid sports fans, and when they watch sports, we’ve found that they’re not just watching it on the big screen. and other game updates, they were actively searching their phones for more detailed information, enhancing what they were already watching.”

The Views feature suite works across connected TVs and mobile devices, but there is also a Fantasy Football view on mobile, allowing users to link their Fantasy Football account to YouTube TV 1 to watch their teams perform in real time. I can.

While there are currently no plans to bring YouTube TV to Australia, the technology certainly shows what is possible with Connected TV from a technical and branding perspective. Integration of similar NRL chips would be huge for Nine and Foxtel, for example.
