Saskatchewan Prime Minister Scott Mo says his government is doing everything it can to track down the creators of his so-called “deepfakes” and other prominent figures.

Moe's portrait, including his voice, is used in online video ads for cryptocurrency schemes that he says never supports.

The Prime Minister says on his official social media that some of the videos created with artificial intelligence will feature him and other videos, including Prime Minister Mark Kearney.

Moe says his government is doing its best to find the people behind the video, but adds that preventing fraud can be difficult.

It's not the first time Moe's image has been used to sell fraud. He first admitted in March.

Saskatchewan's Consumer Watchdog has issued warnings about impersonation scams and urges people not to send money to businesses that are not registered with the state.
