Both Google and YouTube have added new features aimed at expanding what you can do with photos.
Specifically, Google says the Photos app has acquired new tools that can bring new life to your photos. These features include the addition of photo to video features with Veo 2 and the new remix feature that converts existing photos into animation, sketches, comics and other styles.
Meanwhile, YouTube shorts also gain photo to video functionality, and have also introduced new generated video effects.
You can turn images into videos on Google

Photo-to-Video feature allows users to convert images into 6-second video clips in just a few steps. All of this is powered by Google's VEO 2 AI video generator, select an image from the gallery and choose one of two prompts (“Subtle Movement” or “I'm feeling lucky”.
You can also remix the photos into another style

Plus, Google Photos allows you to “remix” images, making it easy to change the style of images. For example, you can turn your latest selfies into anime, comics, or even 3D animations. All you have to do is select the image in your gallery and choose the style that suits you.
Simply create tabs to find features, and spots thanks to watermarks

Not only can you animate images, but Google has introduced a new creation tab in Google Photos, making it even easier to find the tools you need. Basically, it's a tab that finds each feature in one place, such as photo to video remixing.
By seeking more AI support, Google is also working to improve transparency about things that are not generated through AI. For example, all videos and photos generated in the above method contain invisible Synthid watermarks, while videos generated in photos have similar visual watermarks to those seen in Gemini.
In addition, both videos and remixes from photos are supported by the Red team at Google, a group of ethical hackers aiming to find and address potential issues, and conduct evaluations to ensure that any of these features are not misused.
You can try out the Photo-to-Video feature now (July 23rd), but the remix feature will arrive in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the tab is scheduled to be released in August.
YouTube shorts can also use videos from photos

With YouTube unveiling new features based on combining its creation tool with YouTube shorts, Google isn't the only one using AI for the new features. Like Google, YouTube also introduces the ability to turn photos into videos, making it easier to breathe new life into your photos. The feature is scheduled to be released for free in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand next week, with more regions coming later this year.
YouTube shorts can also use AI generation to make images even better

In addition, YouTube adds new generation effects to YouTube. You can also turn your images into more unique videos, for example. For example, you could add water or twins with a look-like sibling.
To access these effects, find the sparkle icon on your shorts camera, then tap “AI” to start browsing. YouTube doesn't just release features. This is because the company announced that it will roll out the new VEO 3 to YouTube later this summer, while the feature will run on VEO 2 first.

YouTube also has an AI Playground. Here you can easily find the latest GEN AI tools, and find examples gallery and pre-filled prompts that will help you start generating music, videos, etc. The AI Playground is now available to everyone in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. All you need is[作成]Tap the button and tap the sparkle icon in the top right corner.
Like Google, all of these tools use synth ID watermarks that help us all prove that they were made with AI, as well as clear labels.
Overall, it's an exciting time for AI fans who want to add something a little different to their images and YouTube shorts. It's also good to make sure that both Google and YouTube are working to implement more transparency about AI and what is. So now is the time to grab one of the best camera phones and see what you can create.
