We've all seen science fiction films where robots go out of control and destroy the world. So, what happens if this actually happens, not just the film?
Well, we've already seen them incite everything and replace almost everything.
Some of you may roll your eyes, but think about it. When you fall into a math problem or essay, how often do you automatically reach for various AI software to fix you? Because why would someone spend hours on their tasks when AI can literally do it for you in seconds and get a much higher grade for you? My dear friend, do you not know where this is the actual problem?
So it's not wrong to say that AI did it and not you! Because AI did it, you didn't make the effort necessary to achieve those marks, so that's not yours. What's scary is the fact that humans remain original and efforts are decreasing every day.
When comparing Renaissance art with contemporary art, there is a clear difference. The old paintings feature vivid scenes with detailed details. Today, however, you just need to hit the canvas with dots and sell them for thousands of dollars. And what about the stunning architecture of old mosques, castles and temples? The complex patterns are eradicated in modern buildings under the guise of minimalism.
Authors, artists, designers and developers all rely more on AI. Certainly, it produces results within seconds, but there is no emotion, sense or effort behind the job.
Consider the recent trend of asking AI to change photos to Studio Ghibli style. The original producer spent hours on hand-drawn illustrations, and now all the effort is neglected and ignored by the machine.
What about work? It is true that the rise of technology has created thousands of jobs, including AI engineers, trainers, monitors, and more, but it has led nearly the same amount of people out of their work. The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report predicts that AI will eliminate 92 million people while creating 170 million new jobs, resulting in a net increase in employment of 78 million by 2030. This indicates that not only AI can create new roles, but also change existing roles, but workers must adapt and acquire new skills.
This seems promising, but remember that educated people need to handle technology. This level of education and training is virtually out of the question for those at the bottom of the social ladder. Cashers, builders, cleaners, movers, etc. are mostly illiterate or simply basic education, relying on simple physical jobs to maintain themselves and their home. They are fired and their work is replaced by robots! It's more efficient and cost-friendly for the company, but is it really justified when the struggles of the poor and unemployed people appear in sight?
How far can this go? Can AI replace everything? The answer is no. I firmly believe in it.
AI cannot rule in a world designed for creatures with heartbeats and countless emotions. AI can't think outside the box, and can't come up with ideas that will pave the way for inventions. However, it cannot mimic the love and care that humans give to each other. We cannot reach out to help, empathize, and provide advice to a needy soul.
The structure of society is heavily dependent on emotions. Furthermore, they cannot assess individual needs or personality, nor can they read facial emotions. These traits that make us human are truly what bring color to our world. What makes society is similar to a kaleidoscope with an infinite pattern.
So, the next time you reach out to AI support, pause. Instead, unleash the power of your brain and you will be amazed at what you can achieve.
