Jakarta (Antara) – The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has launched the AI Center of Excellence to support the development of digital talent and expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the country.
“The AI Center of Excellence is expected to ensure that AI technology will bring great benefits to Indonesians,” Komdigi Deputy Minister Nezar Patria said on Friday during the opening of the centre in South Jakarta.
He said the centre has been developed through collaboration between government, universities, industry and communities, and technology companies such as Nvidia, Cisco and IndoSat are also contributing to the project.
“By involving key stakeholders, we present the centre as part of our efforts to accelerate the national digital transformation,” stressed Patria, adding that the centre's operations are tailored to Indonesia's needs.
He communicated the Center's computing power to support AI adoption in research and business, and to support a wide range of public services.
The Deputy Minister added that the centre will serve as a platform for national and global collaboration to promote innovation.
He further said the digital technology hub is also expected to help advance the national AI roadmap, which sets the government's goal of creating an enablement environment for developing and testing AI prototypes in the priority sector.
The roadmap also covers plans to organize AI-related training and certifications, he added.
Additionally, Patria highlighted the government's commitment to supporting the establishment of companies that can financially support AI startups and leverage AI to strengthen sectors such as education, health and agriculture.
He added that the government is planning to hold consultations to develop a framework and regulations regarding the use of AI in Indonesia.
