CEO Andy Jassy is pushing to reduce bureaucracy on Amazon, including the management layer. In a memo last month, Jassy told employees that AI will cut down the company's workforce in the coming years.“There are fewer people doing some of the work that is being done today, and more people doing other types of work,” Jassy wrote in a note. “It will be difficult to know exactly where this is online over time, but over the next few years, this is expected to reduce the total workforce of businesses.
Andy Jassy's advice to Amazon employees: adaptation or risk obsolescence
In the memo, Jassy advised Amazon employees to embrace change. He said, “Be interested in AI, educate yourself, take part in workshops, get trained, experiment with AI whenever possible.” He emphasized that employees should learn “how to succeed more with a poor team.”“People who embrace this change, become familiar with AI, build and improve AI capabilities internally, and provide them to their customers will be suited to reach their customers,” Jassy said.
