Ask Perplexity to deploy 8-second AI video generation for X users

AI Video & Visuals

Perplexity AI officially launched its long-awaited video generation feature for “Praplexity” users on X (formerly Twitter). The new tool, released on June 19th, allows users to receive 8-second AI-generated videos with synced sounds and dialogs by tweeting prompts and tagging their Ask Perplexity accounts.

Within minutes of launch, social media exploded as users flooded the platform with creative prompts aimed at seeing everything from the east feast of samosas to chatty scenarios featuring real-world politicians and celebrities. Despite the platform's flexible generation capabilities, confusion said that strong guardrails are in place to prevent misuse.

In the excitement, the bot behind “Ask Perplexity” added a tongue tweet acknowledging the enthusiastic flood of requests.

“I've read your video request DMS. Everyone needs help.”

However, the rush of demand was quickly sacrificed. Users began reporting longer latency times, responding to the bot, explaining that the outbreak could be longer than expected due to the mass.

This rollout is based on the April 2025 extension of Perplexity AI to WhatsApp. Here, users can freely access AI research tools, generate custom images, and ask for queries via the chat interface.
