Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly used artificial intelligence (AI) to create an indecent video containing Prime Minister Mohan Charan Maj and a female philanthropist and posted it on his Facebook account.
Kishore Kausalya, accused, was arrested from his hometown of Ketaguda Station Sahi, within Chandili Police Limits in Rayagada district. Police said Kausalya is conducting electrical engineering courses and is working with construction companies in Tikiri, Rayagada.
Research revealed that Kausalya used AI to create indecent videos using photos of the Prime Minister and female philanthropists. He then uploaded the video to his Facebook account and bidded to earn fame and make easy money, with around 24,000 followers.
After encountering the post, social media users filed a complaint against Kausalya in connection with this. The complainant also alleged that the accused had seriously injured the dignity of the woman whose photographs were used in the indecent video.
Based on the complaint, CB registered the case Tuesday under various sections of BNS, the Information Technology Act, and the Women's Indecent (Prohibited) Act. CB officials also approached the meta, which owns and operates Facebook, and requested that the offensive videos be removed. The post was then deleted.
During the investigation, agency officials confirmed that their Facebook account belonged to Kausalya and that the team had departed to arrest him for Rayagada. “Apart from Facebook, the accused is active on other social media platforms like Instagram. He posted a video of the doctor in slutty commercial online to increase his followers,” says CB Sources.
Police found that Kausalya had posted more than 50 morphed photos of well-known people in the past. Meanwhile, the CB warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals indulging in such illegal activities. They also asked citizens to be aware of content they post or share on social media.
