Although AI adoption is relatively slow in the manufacturing sector, the next big thing in this space is likely to be a collaboration between technology and robotics, Arundhati Bhattacharya, president and CEO of Salesforce-South Asia, said on Tuesday.

“In actual plant beds, the amount of digitization used is still a bit limited,” she said at the event here. “But that will change. The next wave will come. Now we have autonomous digital agents. This will soon see us marrying robotics,” she added.

Bhattacharya said this will also bring about a change in the people working on factory floors.

However, in the current scenario, AI adoption can occur in the manufacturing sales and distribution segment.

“At this point, we can do sales, distribution, supply chain, all of this digitally,” she said.

She added that this not only helps businesses make better predictions, but also helps reward people who are actually working well.

The company's India is responsible for the first time in fiscal 2024, $1 billion in revenue milestones. India has over 2 million Salesforce developers. It is the second largest community on platforms outside the US.

India has around 13,000 employees and works with the largest brand in the country, such as Royal Enfield. Kotak Mahindra Bank and Godrej and Boyce.

The company is building a new Sales For Tower at Bagmantec Park in Mahadevpura, Bengaluru, which houses 3,800 employees and is open by mid-2026. The tower features Salesforce Innovation Center and space for in-person AI training.

SaaS Company has similar towers in nine cities: San Francisco, New York, Chicago, London, Dublin, Sydney, Tokyo, Atlanta and Indianapolis.

Bhattacharya said here that the company has devised a variety of products or solutions for different sectors.

“I initially came up with sales clouds, services, etc., but soon I realized there were different challenges in all kinds of manufacturing,” she said.

“We've now left industry-wise. We have 14-15 industry solutions, which include the full range of products, but are separate verticals that address you due to industry issues,” she added.
