Currently, four in five (80%) employers employ artificial intelligence.
Candidate CVs generated using AI are flooding recruiters' systems. “It pollutes the talent pool and undermines trust in the employment process.” All sorter.
Declan MurphyThe CEO of the Dublin-based AI recruiting software company said that the promise of faster employment by AI actually led to an “AI vs. AI showdown that puts the burial of top talent at risk.”
“With tools like ChatGpt, anyone can create smooth-looking CVs in seconds or fire 500 applications a week. There are a lot of recruiters owned.
“We've entered the AI vs AI standoff for employment. Candidates are using generated AI to fire applications while employers deploy AI to filter them. It's going to be a technical arms race.
Allsorter calls this phenomenon “AI sludge,” adapting a term coined by the New York Times to refer to a mass production application that “buries recruiters in low-quality, automated content.”
Murphy, whose company processes over 200,000 cvs per month for clients, said, “Many resumes we see are routine and practically suspicious.
“In fact, some of the world's largest employers estimate that up to 70% of CVs contain misleading data. That's a staggering number. This means recruiters spend most of their time eliminating and exclude fake applications.”
As a result, recruiters are wasted time, overwhelmed by AI-generated applications, and are at a higher risk of poor employment.
“It's not just a manager's headache, it's a strategic issue,” Murphy said. “Top talent is lost in the noise. Companies can't afford to miss a great candidate as they are buried under AI-generated CVs.”
Allsorter has developed a technology to analyze CVS using its proprietary AI model and detect and counteract fake CVSs that validate important details.
“We assign trust scores to all resumes by cross-checking employment history, qualifications and even public records,” Murphy explained.
“If your resume is too good to be true, we flag it. The recruiter sees an alert for inconsistencies. Perhaps it duplicates positions that don't match the company or dates that don't add up.”
Companies such as Landstud and Adecka It helps you integrate Allsorter's trust scoring capabilities into your workflow and handle millions of CVs. By automatically filtering out unreliable data, recruiters can refocus on real candidates.
“Our mission is to restore confidence and structure in the industry that is owned by AI sludge,” Murphy said.
“Technology creates this problem, and smarter technology built with checks and safeguards solves it.”
A recent Irishjobs survey found that 52% of recruiters believe AI will free them from more boring jobs, and Murphy advises employers to “build validation at every stage.”
Allsorter advocates a “loop-human” approach in which AI handles volumes and humans make critical decisions.
We recommend that job seekers take the same care. A recent report found that 52% of applicants use AI to write and refine their CVs.

“There's nothing wrong with getting a little help from AI,” Murphy said. “Don't overdo it. If your resume is too common or too perfect, an experienced recruiter will smell the rat. It will be true. You will need to prove your skill in the interview anyway.”
Interestingly, the majority of HR managers (58%) say it is ethical for candidates to use AI in job hunting, but honesty and personal touch are key differentiators.
