2025 was definitely the year of the AI ​​boom in the workplace. When generative AI like ChatGPT came out a few years ago, it started as a novelty. Early adopters saw the potential to change the way we work, but for most it was a way to rewrite a Keats poem in pirate language or remix a favorite meme.

But by 2025, AI will be in every office, taking over as the boss setting performance goals, the on-call therapist and coach, and the silent brainstorming partner. According to McKinsey research, in 2023, 33% of organizations will be using genAI in the workplace and 55% will be using AI. This year, that jumped to 79% and 88%, respectively. Here are five ways AI will change work in 2025.

1. AI recruitment app

AI will not only change the way we work, but also the way we get jobs. AI-generated resumes submitted to LinkedIn have surged by 45% this year. Job seekers will also use AI to find companies to apply to and help them network.

At the same time, HR departments are overwhelmed by the plethora of AI-generated applications and are leveraging AI to help them respond. Three-quarters of recruiters say they use AI to schedule interviews, and over 90% use AI to screen resumes. Interviewing remains the domain of humans, but around 25% of companies are using AI interviewers. Researcher Brian Javarian even found that AI interviewers were more likely to get more offers. Additionally, industries with high hiring volumes, such as customer service, see a 17% increase in 30-day retention rates.

2. AI as a superstar employee

AI has arrived on the scene as the perfect employee. I don't ask for a paycheck or a raise, I don't care about promotions, I don't steal lunch boxes from the break room. Instead, you can do the automatic, repetitive tasks that are present in every job and that consume your entire week and provide little intellectual satisfaction.
