Mathematics to drive innovation in machine learning is the focus of the five-day Mathematics in Machine Learning Workshop (WMML-2026), which began on Tuesday at the Institute of Technology Education and Research (ITER) in the Faculty of Engineering, deemed Shiksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University.

Prof. Snehasish Chakravity from NIT Rourkela, who was the chief guest, gave a keynote address that provided deep insights into the mathematical techniques that drive innovation in machine learning. Practical sessions will also be provided to the approximately 70 students who will be attending the event from across the state and beyond.

This workshop will include a combination of lectures, lab sessions, and interactive discussions aimed at giving participants a solid mathematical understanding tailored to machine learning applications.

SOA Vice Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda conducted the first session of the workshop, which was also attended by ITER Director Prof. Pradeep Kumar Sahu, SOA Examination Controller Prof. Manjula Das and WMML-2026 Organizing Chair Prof. Sunita Chand.
