If you’re reading this article right now, it’s safe to assume you’re not living under a rock. Because living under a rock makes it harder to stay connected to electricity and the internet. So, you and other non-rock residents have probably read about recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI), especially programs like his ChatGPT. AI seems to be advancing at breakneck speed, making people wonder what things (and jobs) will eventually be possible for computer programs.
For now, it seems highly unlikely that an AI program will ever be able to write a full screenplay. But given how difficult it is to predict the future, no one knows for sure. Taking precautions is certainly not a bad thing. And even if that didn’t happen, it doesn’t stop certain (usually messy) movies from feeling like they were written by an AI. The films below demonstrate this well, given their lack of creativity, cohesion, passion, and humanity that would suggest they were written from the heart.
Ten Thor: Love & Thunder (2022)
In some respects Thor: Love and Thunder It feels like it was made by someone telling a computer to spit out a sequel Thor: Ragnarok. Her third Thor-centric movie was surprisingly good, giving the series a much-needed comedic freshness given that his other two films were mediocre at best. functioned as a breath of fresh air.
It feels cynical in many ways.Thor is paired with Hulk Ragnarok worked?to throw guardian of the galaxy to this!people liked all that humor RagnarokThrow random jokes at your audience every few seconds.?oh the emotional moment Ragnarok was it good too? Join Jane Foster in throwing in the story of a mishandled gun! It all feels creepy and rotten and is arguably one of the most creatively bankrupt movies in the MCU.
9 “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” (2019)
Unfortunately, Star Wars The sequel trilogy didn’t seem to have a clear plan, and the “story” across the three films felt cluttered. 2015 force awakens Delighted audiences around the world with his back-to-basics approach Star WarsHowever, there was significant backlash from some fans regarding certain story decisions in 2017. the last jedi.
input rise of skywalker, gives the overall impression of being scattered and chaotic, and gives the impression that it was written too carelessly. The raucous action, copious visual effects, and too-quick pacing try to distract attention from the first-draft-quality script, but it’s so mechanical and desperate to win back its fans that its downsides are very easy to notice.
8 “Cars 2” (2011)
first time car ”Immortality” is by no means one of Pixar’s best films, but at least it is a complete and consistent film. Lightning McQueen has a distinct character arc, giving the film a simple but solid message that winning isn’t always everything.
It all disappears out the window with strange things Cars 2feels like what would happen if the AI were told to make a second car A film with more action and an emphasis on comedic relief sidekick mate. The end result feels like a cinematic Frankenstein’s monster – part carpart james bond for children and some of them Larry the Cable Guy Routine to stand up. It’s a movie that should run away at breakneck speed.
7 “Justice League” (2017)
2021 version, Justice League It’s a long and sometimes exhausting four-hour clock, but it feels aptly: Zack Snyder’s Vision. His name is still on the 2017 edition of 2 Hours, but he walked away from the project before its completion and was morphed into a very different (and much worse) film through various reshoots and re-edits.
What happened in the 2017 version? Justice League It could be even worse than using an (assumingly very sophisticated) AI program to rewrite and re-edit the movie. Many changes seem to have been forced by the studio head. More humor, more color, faster pace, all like creative choices made purely to mathematically increase the film’s chances of mass appeal, without too much passion. I felt it. Unfortunately for Warner Bros., it backfired.
6 “Jason X” (2001)
I find it somewhat surprising, Jason X It was not written by some kind of computer. It’s kind of like what happens when you say to an AI program, “Make this.” Friday the 13th The sequel is in space. And the computer created a generic slasher movie with some of his sci-fi elements and a spaceship setting instead of the standard cabin in the woods.
Given that it’s one of the greatest horror movies of all time, you might potentially understand the logic of an AI program like this. alien– It depicts the gradual murder of the crew of a spaceship by a lone antagonist. Unfortunately, Jason X no alienInstead, it feels like, by the numbers, a boring horror movie sequel with a thin coat of sci-fi paint.
Five “Medallion” (2003)
lots of great stuff Jackie Chan It’s a movie, but from 2003 medallion Certainly not one of them. It’s a (somewhat) family fantasy/action film about a Hong Kong detective who dies and comes back to life with superhuman powers thanks to the title medallion.
From a script standpoint, it feels a bit broken, given that more than half the movie is spent before this happens. The second half is predictably formulaic, and (although admittedly a bit better) the first half feels like a randomly generated, thoughtless, series of action sequences. It may have entertainment value for Jackie Chan fans, but the script is undeniably crude and not particularly well thought out.
Four “When in Rome” (2010)
when in rome It feels like the final product of an AI program directed to make a light rom-com with a touch of fantasy. This largely forgotten film depicts one woman ill-fated in love and the turmoil that unfolds after she steals a coin from her “Fountain of Her Love” that magically transforms into a variety of Men start chasing her.
Even at their best, rom-coms still tend to feel a bit formulaic, which means that far from great rom-coms can also feel very formulaic. This is true if when in rome It has a 17% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but in all fairness it’s not the only romantic comedy that feels computer-made.
3 “Disaster Movie” (2008)
it’s not a secret disaster movies not good. It’s currently the lowest-rated film on IMDb and, in the words of Ron Burgundy, the highest-rated of all, given that the website lists more than 600,000 of his feature films. Low is a big deal in a way.
Far from carefully written in a room filled with leather-bound books (which also smelled of rich mahogany), disaster movies Rather, it feels like it was generated by an AI program and is subpar in that respect. It parodies various films that were popular in 2007-2008, with little real wit and random, careless and lazy humor that feels like something a computer could conceive… From even AI programs might be something to avoid.
2 “Yoga Hosers” (2016)
Kevin Smith He has had a filmmaking career full of ups and downs. Some of his films are universally loved, others are controversial, and some are widely perceived as not good at all.
Yoga Hoser It’s probably the film that most clearly falls into the “not good at all” category. Comedy, horror, and action/fantasy elements he tries to mix in one movie. It’s as if an AI program is being instructed to make a Kevin Smith-like movie that breaks genre barriers while keeping teen humor. The end result is a nasty cinematic explosion, but at least Smith bounced back with a more authentic (and better) film. Clerk 3 In 2022.
1 “The Bubble” (2022)
bubble Desperately trying to capture the cultural zeitgeist of the early 2020s more than any other film released in 2022, it ended up being one of the worst films of the year. The film revolves around the shooting of a blockbuster movie in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, where quarantine measures and isolation have made filmmaking more difficult. Trying to find comedy in every possible way.
As a comedy, unfortunately bubble Laughter is scarce. Even if COVID-19 didn’t go away (and it may never go away), jokes about it were funny for a very limited time, if at all. bubble The piece could be little more than an AI-mined repurpose of popular COVID-19 tweets and memes from the early days of the pandemic, shoved into a hastily sprinkled screenplay.
