Noida, May 2: A man was arrested here by the Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) for allegedly posting an AI-generated “deepfake” video of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, officials said on Thursday. “On May 1, an AI-generated deepfake video of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister went viral after it was posted on handle We have strengthened this element,” said ADGP Yash. He said that an FIR under Section 468 (forgery of cheating), Section 505(2) (statement committing public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code and the provisions of the Information Technology Act has been lodged with the Noida Cyber Crime Police Station, Noida Division, India. “The accused Shyam Kishore Gupta was arrested on Thursday and further legal proceedings are being carried out at the local cyber crime police station in Noida,” said ADG (law and order) officer, Uttar Pradesh Police. ADGP Yash said. He said Mr. Gupta is a resident here and in his X-profile he claims to be the chairman of the 'Lehri Patri' (Street Vendors) Welfare Association.
