Poland has asked the European Commission to investigate after the TikTok platform published content generated by artificial intelligence (AI), including calls for Poland's expulsion from the European Union. Officials said it was likely Russian disinformation.
Her TikTok profile featured a video of a young woman dressed in Polish national colors and a message urging Poland to leave the European Union. The profile quickly went viral, but has since been removed from the platform, according to reports. media Polishing.
In a letter to the European Commission, Poland's Deputy Digitalization Minister Dariusz Standerski said that such content poses a threat to public security, information security and democratic processes in Poland and the European Union as a whole.
He also pointed out that the way the material was distributed and the use of synthetic audiovisual materials showed that the platform was not fulfilling its obligations as a Very Large Scale Online Platform (VLOP).
A Polish government spokesperson said the content was almost certainly disinformation of Russian origin, based on Russian syntax elements found in the video.
TikTok said it has contacted Polish authorities and removed content that violates the platform's rules. Representatives of the European Commission and the Russian embassy in Warsaw did not respond to requests for comment. /telegraph/
