Eight in 10 job seekers want to know if employers are using AI to evaluate their job applications, according to a new research firm. Hayes Ireland Found.
One-third of businesses and organizations are currently using AI, with 14% of them using the technology to evaluate job applications, which includes scanning resumes and scoring job seekers to screen and identify the most suitable candidates based on the job description.
More than half (54%) of organizations now inform potential candidates that they use AI in the hiring process, and 70% of employers believe resume review is the most effective form of assessment when screening applications.
Professionals themselves are also using AI tools to customise CVs to specific job requirements, with a third (32%) of 18-24 year olds using AI to apply for work, compared to just 18% of those over 50.
Public organizations are more likely than private organizations to use AI to evaluate applications: 25% and 12%, respectively.
When it comes to using AI in the workplace, three-quarters (78%) of organizations say they plan to allow employees to use AI in the future, and one-third say they currently use tools and technologies related to artificial intelligence.

“AI tools continue to be a major innovation in the workplace, impacting both employees and employers,” Maureen LynchManaging Director of Hays Ireland.
“The use of AI tools in the workplace is likely to increase as organizations become more familiar with them and implement clear policies that encourage the integration of AI into the workplace.”
The survey was conducted between February 26 and March 25 and received over 1,000 responses from both employees and employers.
