- Seth Rogan endorsed the strike writers and echoed concerns about the use of AI in writing TV shows.
- Logan said AI models would need to be “loaded with a lot of weed” to produce quality TV shows.
- He added that he feels companies are being secretive about viewership data, possibly leading to a shortage of writers and producers.
Seth Rogan said he was “heartbroken” that streaming services seem to be moving toward a future where artificial intelligence is used to create TV shows.
The actor and filmmaker interviewed IndiWire last week at the premiere of the Apple TV series “Platonic,” which he co-stars with Rose Byrne, questioning the quality of AI scripts and criticizing the companies promoting AI. .
“I think the prospect of artificial intelligence writing something is terrifying,” Rogen told the media outlet. [it] more terrifying. ”
About 10,000 writers in the Writers Guild of America are currently on strike to negotiate new contracts with studios. Members of the guild have previously told Insider that they are concerned about the threat of AI models like ChatGPT stealing writers as cheap alternatives.
Logan isn’t convinced the writing, much less the ethics, is good. He told IndieWire that “you’re going to have to push a lot of weeds into it” to make a good TV show. He added that he supports strikers, especially those who demand higher wages to match the rising cost of living.
“In general, the fact that these studios can unite and lower the wages of their workers is appalling. I appreciate the unions. “I always stand by every strike I can do. Studios will never act fairly or equitably unless forced to do so,” Logan told IndieWire.
He added that he was “disturbed” by what he felt was keeping secrets about ratings.
“I am personally very upset and distressed by the lack of personal information available from streaming services that distribute movies and TV shows,” Logan told the outlet. “I think what they’re secretive about is telling us how much money they’re making from us and how much of that money they’re giving us. I think it’s because I don’t want them to know.”
