For Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, the biggest challenge with AI is not just building or unfolding it, but instead making people change the way they work.
The work process needs to shift with technological advances, Nadella said in a chat with a fireplace hosted by Y-combinators.
“When someone says, 'I'm going to work now, but 99 agents are supervising on my behalf,' the workflow isn't constant,” he said. “Even the scope of your work will change.”
Change management is the main bottleneck, Nadella said in a conversation published Thursday.
He pointed out LinkedIn, owned by Microsoft, as an example of how AI is already reshaping its role. The company has begun to integrate traditional separate functions, such as product design, front-end engineering, and product management, into a single role. It's a “Full Stack Builder.”
“It's a change in scope, even work,” he said. “How do you rebuild your product team with a new role, a new scope?“
Microsoft said in May it plans to cut approximately 6,000 jobs, which is less than 3% of the global workforce. A spokesperson said these cuts are not performance-driven.
Business Insider said in April that these cuts were Middle Manager Increase the ratio of Coder Non-coder for the project. Microsoft's organization wants to increase them.”Control span“or the number of employees to report to each manager.
Nadella did not respond to requests for comment from Business Insider.
Will AI lead to the destruction of new jobs and jobs?
Technology leaders are split over whether AI will create new roles or cause massive work destruction.
Chipmaker Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI will change everyone's jobs. “It changed mine,” he told reporters in June on a bystander at Vivatec in Paris.
He also said that while some roles will disappear, AI could unleash creative opportunities.
Dario Amodei, CEO of AI startup humanity, warned that AI could eliminate 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within the next five years.
“As producers of this technology, we have an obligation and an obligation to be honest about what's coming. I don't think this is on people's radar,” Amodei told Axios in an interview published in May.
To address the changes, executives say everyone at C-Suite Down needs to use AI.
Amazon CEO told employees to participate in the AI program In last week's public staff memo.
“When we experience this transformation together, we become interested in AI, educate ourselves, take part in workshops, get trained, experiment with AI whenever possible,” writes Andy Jussey.
He also said that AI is changing the company's workflow and will “reduce” the company's workforce over the next few years.
Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn; AI said it should burn into every team's daily work, whether it's a five-person startup or a huge company.
