
Three students from Nanyang Technology University (NTU) in Singapore expressed their anger after failing to complete the task using artificial intelligence (AI) to the task of completing the task.
NTU said students were given a zero mark following the April survey after nonexistent academic references and statistics were discovered in their work.
The university said undergraduate students were allowed to present the lawsuit during a formal review, the Strait Times reported.
Two of them acknowledged using the generator AI, and the other students claimed they were unaware that the platform used for assignment is an AI tool.
One student expressed his dissatisfaction with Reddit, claiming that he was mistakenly accused of using AI and committing academic scams after making typos and using a reference organizer.
Despite submitting evidence of her writing process, her attempts to sue the decision were unsuccessful, she said.
Another student expressed his dissatisfaction during the university's formal review process, claiming that she cried out to her professor, and that she was not given the right opportunity to protect herself.
NTU did not disclose accurate guidelines for AI use for citations and summary, but students said that using generated AI on all written assignments this semester is said to be zero grade.
