Musk launches AI company in Nevada

AI For Business

Elon Musk has founded X.AI artificial intelligence company based in Nevada, USA, according to business documents revealed on Friday.

Already a Twitter and Tesla boss, Musk was listed as a director of the X.AI Corporation, which was formed March 9, according to state business reports.

Musk recently merged Twitter with the newly formed “X” Shell company, keeping the platform’s brand name intact and the business’s brand name intact.

Musk has founded what appears to be a rival to ChatGPT maker OpenAI, despite his recent calls for an overall moratorium on artificial intelligence development.

According to Insider’s report, Musk has purchased thousands of powerful and expensive computing processors and hired engineers as part of Twitter’s AI project.

Musk, meanwhile, cut staff at Twitter as part of a massive cost-cutting effort since buying the San Francisco company for $44 billion late last year.

X.AI’s founding date came just weeks before Musk signed an open letter with experts calling for a halt to AI development.

An open letter published on the Musk-funded Future of Life Institute website called for a six-month moratorium on developing powerful AI systems.

The billionaire Tesla chief and other celebrities have written that “AI systems with intelligence that can compete with humans could pose serious risks to society and humanity.”

Signatories, including academics such as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and tech giants, argued that the moratorium should be used to tighten regulation and ensure system security. .

Tech giants such as Google, Meta, and Microsoft have spent years developing AI systems, formerly known as machine learning or big data, to help with translation, search, and targeted advertising. (AFP)
