Midjourney releases V1, the first AI video generation model

AI Video & Visuals

Midjourney is known for developing one of the best image generation AI models. And now the company has launched its first video generation AI model called the “V1.” In addition to image generation in Midjourney, you can now create 4 5-second videos by clicking “Animate”. Essentially, you can use the Midjourney V1 model to create videos from still images.

The best part is that you can upload existing images outside of MidJourney to animate the images, creating motion videos seamlessly. You can use the image as the starting frame and add a motion prompt to explain what kind of video you want to generate.

That said, Midjourney V1 is not free and you will need to subscribe to the $10 per month plan. Note that there are “High Motion” and “Low Motion” settings to create videos in different motion styles. Low motion is excellent for ambient scenes, allowing high motion where everything moves in video.

If the generated video is no longer a problem, you can extend it for 4 seconds. You can do this up to four times. Currently, Bytedance's Seedance 1.0 and Google's VEO 3 are the best video generation AI models on the Artificial Analytics Video Arena Leaderboard. It will be interesting to see where the Midjourney V1 stacked up in the video generation race.
