Google has resumed rolling out its AI-powered Ask Photos feature in the US following a temporary pause triggered by performance issues. This tool, which allows users to search digital photo collections using natural language, elicited criticism for its reliability and delay. Now, Google says it has significantly improved both speed and accuracy.
According to Tenchocrunch.com, after Google temporarily paused the deployment of its “Ask Photos” feature with buggy AI in Google photos, the company announced that it has improved its ability to quickly return search results.
AI-driven tools are designed to understand the context within photos and go beyond simple keyword tags. However, users reported delays and inconsistent results, prompting Google to delay wide launches.
However, users complained that AI features are unreliable and that responses often slow while AI is “thinking.”
To improve performance, Google integrates classic search functions for simple queries, ensuring that AI continues to analyze complex searches in the background. This hybrid model aims to balance speed with deeper photo recognition capabilities.
Meanwhile, AI works in the background, finding the most relevant photos and answering more complex queries.
