Google announced Thursday that it will provide up to $1 million in financial protection to cover costs related to undetected cryptomining attacks on Google Cloud.
This protection is provided as part of Security Command Center Premium, a built-in security and risk management solution designed to detect and block cryptocurrency mining attacks targeting cloud customers.

The Security Command Center, built into Google’s cloud infrastructure, performs agentless scanning of virtual machine memory to detect attacks without impacting performance, Google said.
The solution also provides compromised identity detection, preventing attackers from gaining unauthorized access to cloud accounts to deploy cryptomining malware.
According to Google, the newly introduced cryptomining protection program aims to strengthen customer confidence that cryptomining attacks can be quickly detected and blocked.
However, only Security Command Center Premium customers who follow cryptomining detection best practices and other program terms and conditions are eligible to participate.
