Baku, Azerbaijan, December 2nd. Azerbaijan is preparing a legal framework for the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), said Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov at the opening event of ASAN AI HUB today, Trend Report reported.
According to him, an AI strategy has been adopted that defines the legal and normative basis and conceptual framework for AI development in Azerbaijan.
The Deputy Minister said that the main directions of this strategy are to develop and improve AI management, establish databases and infrastructure, strengthen human resources and skills in the field of AI, and create a favorable business environment.
“To ensure the responsible and ethical use of AI, a normative legal framework is being prepared. These legal regulations will optimize the process of using AI, paying special attention to human rights and data privacy. The purpose of the legal framework is not to limit the development of AI, but, on the contrary, to comprehensively support the digitalization of the country on the basis of AI,” Mammadov explained.
He emphasized that this year marks the launch of the first national standards in the field of artificial intelligence in Azerbaijan.
“The new standard envisages risk management, compliance with ethical principles and ensuring transparency in the application of AI technologies. It also covers modern algorithms and approaches for building, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving AI systems,” the official added.
