Apple's AI Siri could be driven by Google Gemini

AI News

According to a new report, Apple may use the Gemini AI model in early discussions with Google to revamp Siri.

According to sources cited by BloombergApple approached Google's parent company Alphabet to build a custom AI model that could serve as the backbone for the more advanced version of Siri, which is scheduled to be rolled out next year.

The proposal includes Google's training AI models to operate Apple's servers, focusing on privacy and device handling.

Other AI players have also been considered.

Apple has yet to make a final decision and is weighing alternatives, such as Anthropic's Claude and Openai's ChatGPT.

Sources show that Apple will remain apart for weeks after finalizing whether to proceed with one of these external models or stick to an internally developed AI solution.

Although Apple has made internal advancements, its generative AI products have not gained the same traction as competing models due to lack of performance and lack of functionality when compared to rival AI products.

The company emphasizes privacy and local data processing in its AI initiatives. This can affect your final choice of partner or strategy.
