Machine learning and AI-assisted programs reduce the time it takes to complete maintenance and monitor issues.
Alpha Video Surveillance requires all video surveillance cameras to be functional and properly recording in order to serve its clients.
When you have multiple clients of varying sizes, the effort required to ensure that all cameras are in focus, unobstructed, well positioned, and working properly becomes a significant undertaking.
Initially, Alpha VS manually performed on-site maintenance checks of client systems for eight-hour shifts each day, often finding only one or two problem cameras across dozens or hundreds of systems. As our client portfolio grew, the amount of time and effort required to manually ensure the reliability and functionality of every camera increased significantly.
Ultimately, Alpha VS’s technical agents worked eight-hour shifts each day just to make sure all the cameras were properly positioned and working satisfactorily. Manually checking the cameras had some challenges, including ensuring tech support agents were performing maintenance according to standards, training trusted employees, and high turnover due to monotony.
The labor costs and time it takes to make sure all cameras are working properly has become a major challenge for Alpha VS. Requiring manpower for tedious tasks was straining budgets and preventing the company from expanding its services to more customers.
With so many cameras already to be maintained, Alpha VS was unable to offer the same quality of remote surveillance services to new customers. Ultimately, the cumbersome nature of fixing problematic cameras detracted from Alpha VS’s original security solution.

Machine learning, AI provided solutions
Technology has provided the answer to eliminate the limiting factor of maintenance and monitoring of malfunctioning cameras.
Instead of manually maintaining all of our customers’ security systems, Michael Loumos, president and COO of Alpha VS, has found that using machine learning and AI-assisted programs can significantly reduce the time it takes to complete maintenance and monitor for issues.
Ai-RGUS’ proprietary AI software helps security/surveillance cameras work properly and effectively monitor the intended focal area. Ai-RGUS software can alert system users when a camera in a surveillance system is not performing its intended function: the image is blurry, misaligned, debris is blocking the lens, or the real-time feed is missing.
Alerts notify system operators through an easy-to-use interface when camera issues occur.
In November 2020, Ai-RGUS connected with Alpha VS to demonstrate the camera surveillance software and the benefits it brings to Alpha VS operations. The partnership started with a small set of 100 cameras for three months.
Alpha VS quickly recognized the benefits that the Ai-RGUS monitoring software offered and asked if additional features could be integrated to help them meet all their security goals. The software solution dramatically reduced the time required to perform maintenance checks, allowing Alpha VS to reassign half of its technical agent team to other mission-critical roles.
Not only has maintenance time been reduced from 8 hours to 1.5 hours per day, but the software’s accuracy in detecting camera issues has also improved dramatically.
After a three-month demo period and adding various integrations to the system, Alpha VS requested that Ai-RGUS surveillance software be added to all cameras in their surveillance system portfolio.
Ai-RGUS software works 24/7. For Alpha VS, integrating Ai-RGUS software into the client’s surveillance system has significantly reduced the time and effort required to ensure all cameras in the 500+ system are working properly.
Alpha VS can track the functionality of all cameras in a client’s system from headquarters instead of performing routine maintenance checks on the camera system. Only when the Ai-RGUS software notifies us of a breakdown will we dispatch his maintenance staff to a specific location and camera.
Ai-RGUS software has helped increase the effectiveness of the Alpha VS surveillance system, making the company even more effective in providing crime deterrence and video evidence when needed by its clients.

Save time, money and hassle
By integrating Ai-RGUS software into the video surveillance system, Alpha VS has significantly reduced the time and energy it takes to maintain all cameras at optimal operating levels. Alpha VS maintenance workers are no longer frustrated by the sheer volume of their work and no longer spend long hours performing non-revenue-generating tasks.
With the addition of Ai-RGUS software, Alpha VS has the opportunity to reclaim time previously lost on extensive manual maintenance of client camera systems and free up employee time to focus on more complex or profitable projects.
For Alpha VS, overcoming the challenges of painstaking camera maintenance has allowed the company to grow significantly. Maintenance challenges have severely impacted their ability to scale up and acquire new customers.
However, since first integrating the Ai-RGUS software across the client’s portfolio, Alpha VS has been able to add additional properties under client oversight and continues to grow at a record pace.
“Before Ai-RGUS, camera maintenance was very labor intensive and scalability was our biggest concern,” says Loumos. “But after confirming the effectiveness of the software to detect camera failures, tomorrow we will add 10,000 more cameras and have zero problems.”
