Investing.com — NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) is developing a version of its flagship artificial intelligence chip for the Chinese market that complies with U.S. export controls, Reuters reported on Monday.
The world's largest chipmaker will work with Inspur, one of China's biggest distributors, to develop a chip tentatively called “B20,” Reuters reported.
Nvidia's current AI products for China are specifically tailored to comply with U.S. export controls on China, but recent reports suggest that China-bound products such as the H20 are facing weak demand due to intense competition from local chipmakers, particularly Huawei.
The company unveiled its “Blackwell” chip series in March, with production set to begin in the second half of 2024. The chip series is specifically designed to meet the computational requirements of large-scale language models, and comes as interest in the burgeoning field has grown significantly over the past year.
The growing interest in AI development has also led to a big increase in Nvidia's revenue, helping to raise the company's valuation to one of the most valuable companies on Wall Street.
