Meta AI, the advanced AI assistant developed by Meta, has revolutionized the way you interact with your favorite social media platforms. Available on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, Meta AI lets you get things done, explore creatively, stay up to date and more, all within the apps you already use.
How can you use Meta AI across different meta platforms?
Here are more details on how Meta AI will improve your experience on each platform:
WhatsApp Web:
- Open WhatsApp Web in your browser.
- Look for the dedicated Meta AI feature, which is a blue hollow circle and usually appears at the top of the WhatsApp Web screen.

- Enter your question or task in the field provided.
- Send the message – this may require pressing “Enter” or a similar button.
- Meta AI is here to provide you with answers and information.
WhatsApp Group Chat:
- Start with a group chat. Open the chat in which you want to interact with Meta AI.
- Summon an AI: Type “@” in the message field and select “Meta AI” from the options that appear.
- Ask a question! Once you've selected Meta AI, type your prompt or question into the chat box.
- Get answers: Send a message and Meta AI will respond with helpful answers in the group chat.
- Reply to AI (Optional): If you want to reply directly to a message in Meta AI, tap and hold on the message. A menu will pop up and you can select “Reply”. This will direct your reply to Meta AI.
Instagram:
- Open Direct Messages: This will take you to the Instagram Direct Messages section where you can chat with your friends and followers.
- Start a new message or open an existing chat.
- Summon Meta AI: Type the “@” symbol into the message input field, which will cause a pop-up menu to appear.
- Select “Meta AI”.
- Ask a question or give a task. In the chat box, type your question or request for Meta AI. It can be anything from finding information to planning an event.
- Send us your message. Once you click “Send”, Meta AI will analyze your request.
- Receive a response: Meta AI will respond to your messages right in the chat, providing information, suggestions, or completing tasks if possible.
Facebook:
- Scroll through your Facebook feed and look for interesting posts that pique your curiosity.
- Interact with Meta AI: You can interact with Meta AI directly in a post (not in the comments section). How you do this will vary depending on your Facebook interface, but you may need to click a “Ask Meta AI” button or icon.
- Ask a Question: Here you can ask any question related to Meta AI to learn more about the post’s content.
- Get helpful answers: Meta AI analyzes your question and provides relevant information directly within the Facebook interface.
Use Meta AI in Messenger:
- Open Messenger chat: Start a new chat with a friend or open an existing conversation.
- Summoning Meta AI: Similar to using Meta AI in a group chat, you can start a conversation by typing “@” in the message bar, which will bring up a pop-up menu where you can select “Meta AI.”
- Ask a question or give a task. After selecting Meta AI, type your request in the chat box.
- Send your message: Click “Send” and Meta AI will analyze your request.
- Get support: Meta AI responds within the chat, offering recommendations, completing tasks where possible, and adding fun, interactive elements to the conversation.
Meta AI is currently rolling out in India, so you might not have it installed yet. Don't worry if you don't have it installed yet; the update will be available soon. In the meantime, make sure you have the latest versions of WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook installed.
