Toys “R” Us Studios partnered with Native Foreign to create a short film using OpenAI's Sora text-to-video generator. The film tells the story of Toys “R” Us founder Charles Lazarus and how his idea changed toy stores forever, including how beloved mascot Jeffrey the Giraffe appeared to him in a dream.
OpenAI's Sora helped the team bring this concept to life in just a few weeks, instead of months spent storyboarding and hiring a production crew. How? By condensing hundreds of repeated shots down to just a few dozen. Nearly everything seen in the video was created with Sora, except for some corrective VFX and the original music score composed by Aaron Marsh.
“The creative industry is experiencing a renaissance, just like Toys”R”Us. Through Sora, we were able to tell this incredible story with incredible speed and efficiency. Toys”R”Us is the perfect brand to embrace this AI-first strategy, and we are thrilled to work with their creative team to lead the next wave of innovative storytelling.” Nick Krebeloff, Chief Creative Officer, Native Foreign.
