It didn't take long for OpenAI to release Sora, and we knew other companies would follow suit. Google's DeepMind has announced its own AI video generator called Veo. And that could certainly give Sora its money's worth.
New AI video tools were unveiled this week at Google I/O 2024. Like Sora, create high-resolution videos from simple text, images, or video instructions.
The tool can create videos lasting more than a minute at 1080p resolution and can also edit videos based on written commands. However, Veo is not yet widely used.
Veo lets you edit existing videos using text commands to ensure visual consistency between frames, creating videos up to more than 60 seconds long from a single prompt or a series of prompts that form a story. It boasts features such as the ability to generate . Create detailed scenes and add cinematic effects like time-lapse and aerial shots.

Veo's announcement follows the latest trend in AI development, where tools like this aim to make image and video creation accessible to anyone who can write a description.
Google's website features demo videos that include scenes of cowboys on horseback and time-lapses of nature. However, tool performance may vary, so you can't yet trust that the demo matches the general quality of the output.
OpenAI commissioned several creative directors and visual storytellers to try out Sora and show the world how great it is. It was really impressive and a little scary.short film air head It was particularly fascinating. However, as the creator's Shy Kids demonstrated in a behind-the-scenes video, Prompt required far more filmmaking knowledge and magic than just his engineering.
Google is currently working with actor Donald Glover's studio to create an AI-generated demonstration film. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.
Interestingly, Veo is not yet publicly available, but it will be made available to some creators through VideoFX on Google's AI Test Kitchen website. Google plans to integrate Veo functionality into YouTube Shorts and other products in the future.
To address privacy and copyright concerns, videos created with Veo are watermarked and safety filters are applied. This will be extremely important in the 2024 US election year, as deepfakes remain a concern.
