Artificial intelligence video has gone from being a purely theoretical research project to a full-fledged research project. A new product category for the first time in a little over a year. The major players are Runway, Pika Labs, and StabilityAI's Stable Video.
Currently, clips tend to be short, around 3-4 seconds, and may have issues with certain movements or consistency.
Companies like OpenAI, home of Sora, are starting to focus on a new generation of models that can deliver longer, more structured clips, but for now only OpenAI staff have access to it.
So while you wait for OpenAI to click publish in Sora, we've put together this guide on how to create videos with AI using Runway's Gen-2.
Create a video with Runway AI
We chose Runway as the most mature AI video platform, but the process is similar for Pika Labs. Other tools, such as Leonardo, provide video in addition to the images they generate, but Stable Video is still in beta testing.
You can also create similar short videos using platforms like Assistive and PixVerse, which work in much the same way.
If you're looking for a video presentation tool, a tool like Synthesia is a better choice. However, for this guide, Runway serves the purpose.
1. Visit the Runway website

Once you sign in, getting started is very easy.just Click the big pink “Start Generation” button..
4. Create your first video

When you first sign up for a free account, you get about 100 seconds of video generation time by default. Each video is approximately 4 seconds long. When you first click Start Generation, a creation window will appear. Here you can enter text to create a video or select an image.
5. Create a text prompt

(Image: ©Runway)
Start with a simple text prompt. Just enter what you want the AI to create. The better the prompt, the better the output, so make it descriptive.
6. Generate video

Once you're happy with the text, just click Generate. There are other settings to adjust the amount of camera movement and camera direction, but for simple videos — Click “Generate”.
7. Admire your own work

Converting an idea to a video can take up to a minute, but usually takes less than a few seconds. It appears above the compose box and can be downloaded, expanded, or redone.
8. Create videos from images

(Image: ©Runway)
You may get better results from AI video if you start with images. This could be a photo, a sketch, or an image created by another AI platform. Here we are using a photo of a cat on the moon created by DALL-E.just Click the image icon on the right to select an image.
9. Select the desired photo

(Image: ©Runway)
Clicking the image button in the creator window opens a library of previously imported images and allows you to add new images.
just Click the arrow button To upload a new image, select the image from your computer.

The overall quality is significantly higher than raw video created directly from text.
12. Expand your video

(Image: ©Runway)
Videos can be extended up to 12 seconds. However, if you want to create short videos from your generative AI, it's better to create a series of 4-second clips, as it's difficult to keep the movement consistent throughout a long video.just Click “Extend”.
13. View and download your own work

(Image: ©Runway)
Now you have a well-produced video clip ready to share with friends and on social media.just Click on the small, almost invisible download icon in the upper right corner of the video window.
Now you know how to create short video clips using Runway. Get the most out of Circle to Search on Pixel with our guide to using Google Gemini. If you're tired of AI, learn how to turn off Copilot. Windows 11.
