Norman – To meet the growing demand for talent, the University of Oklahoma has partnered with a New York City-based technology education provider to launch a new local program.
Fullstack Academy, a national technical training provider, and OU Outreach, a university continuing education organization, offer two new “bootcamp” programs in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Cloud Computing.
The two courses are developed and delivered by experienced technicians. Offered through OU Outreach, this class provides the professional with the skills and hands-on training to pursue a career path in the field in her 26 weeks.
According to PwC, the AI boom could contribute more than $15 trillion to the global economy by 2035. Full Stack Academy partners with colleges and universities across the country to promote programs that give individuals of all skill levels the opportunity to tap into a lucrative technology-based career her path.
According to the release, the OU Outreach AI & Machine Learning Bootcamp will teach students practical and theoretical machine learning through hands-on, application-based training using real-world tools.
Nelis Parts, CEO of Fullstack Academy, defined artificial intelligence as a method of making computers, computer-controlled robots, or software intelligently “think” like the human mind. He said machine learning engineers use algorithms to extract data, learn from it, and predict future trends for specific topics based on specific input settings.
“Real-world applications of AI and machine learning include shopping recommendations on e-commerce sites, financial fraud detection, predictive maintenance in manufacturing, cybersecurity threat detection, and chatbots in customer service. We will,” Pert said in a statement on Monday.
At that bootcamp, students participate in a running capstone project, accompanied by a series of additional hands-on projects integrated throughout each unit, Parts said.
“Artificial intelligence has had and will continue to have a significant impact on the tech industry,” said Parts.
In recent years, Pert said groundbreaking innovations once confined to science fiction have become tangible realities. He said the development of artificial intelligence has pushed it from a mere buzzword to a recognized factor of production that can drive new sources of growth and revolutionize work processes across different sectors. .
According to the release, the OU Outreach Cloud Computing Bootcamp will provide students with comprehensive, industry-led skills training in cloud computing, including how to design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions and how to manage cloud resources.
Cloud computing is said by some to refer to the on-demand delivery of computing resources such as servers, storage, applications and services over the internet.
Instead of owning and maintaining physical computing infrastructure, Parts says users can access these resources from third-party providers through web browsers and application programming interfaces.
“Cloud computing offers many benefits, including scalability, flexibility, cost savings, and easy access to resources from anywhere with an internet connection,” said Parts.
This cloud program offers 40 hands-on projects with integrated labs and incorporates official content from leading cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. Parts said the program prepares students for industry-recognized certifications.
At the final culmination of the course, students can choose from a wide range of project options in industries such as food, e-commerce, entertainment, and healthcare, enabling them to apply their knowledge to areas that align with their career goals. said the part.
“Real-world applications include scaling compute, storage, and business disaster recovery for online gaming companies, Internet of Things (IoT) equipment, and software as a service (SaaS) applications,” said Parts. I’m here.
According to Lightcast, cloud computing job openings have grown 25% annually over the past five years. According to LinkedIn, he has over 1,000 open cloud architect and cloud engineer jobs in Oklahoma. According to Glassdoor, the average entry-level salary for cloud computing jobs in Oklahoma is $100,051.
Fullstack and OU started their partnership in 2020. Pert said the partnership is a good example of how public universities and technical training program providers can work together to make education and training more accessible.
Belinda Biscoe, senior associate vice president of outreach at OU, said both classes give students “exciting opportunities in diverse roles.”
“We are dedicated to training the next generation of technical professionals and problem solvers, enabling them to thrive in the ever-changing digital age,” Biscoe said in a release.
Nina Barbee, Director of Continuing Education at OU Outreach, believes that students not only develop the skills they need to succeed in the tech industry, but also the connections and people that can open doors to future career opportunities. He said that relationships can also be built.
The application deadline for the OU Outreach AI & Machine Learning Bootcamp is July 25th for the first cohort of the program starting July 31st. The OU Outreach Cloud Computing Bootcamp application deadline is August 22nd for cohorts starting August 29th.
University enrollment is not required to offer the program. Scholarships are available to current students and alumni of the University of Oklahoma, active duty military and veterans. Interested learners are encouraged to request more information on the AI & Machine Learning Bootcamp and Cloud Computing Bootcamp on the OU Outreach website.
