A video shared by the presidential campaign of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appears to show an AI-generated fake image of former President Donald Trump and former White House Chief Medical Advisor Anthony Fauci hugging and kissing. is.
The images were featured in a video shared Monday by the DeSantis War Room Twitter account, highlighting the relationship between Trump and Fauci.
The clip included a real-life clip of Trump and Fauci helping shape the US COVID-19 response plan.
But media forensics experts told AFP that one clip showed six images of the two together, three of which appear to have been generated by AI.
DeSantis, DeSantis’ campaign and Trump did not immediately respond to insider requests for comment.
Manny Ford, a digital forensics expert and professor at the University of California, Berkeley, told AFP, “It was despicable to mix real-looking photos with fake ones. But those three images were arguably AI. It is produced by the.”
The three photos in the collage (top center, top right, bottom left) are actual images and can be found in Getty Images, National Institutes of Health, and Reuters records.
The other three photos (top left, bottom center and bottom right) appear to be AI-generated, and all show Mr. Fauci and Mr. Trump embracing. Two of the fake images show Trump kissing Fauci on the face.
Insiders were unable to find the source of these three photos. A reverse image search on Google did not find the source.
Farid told AFP it was “very likely” that the photos were generated by AI.
AI-generated images have been circulating in the political arena for months.
In February, President Trump shared a parody AI-generated video of DeSantis and Elon Musk conversing with Adolf Hitler.
