Gorakhpur: In a lecture on ‘Role of social media and AI in life’ at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University (MGUG) on Monday, advocate Shubendra Satyadev said students must use social media and artificial intelligence (AI) with responsibility and prudence.The program was organized by the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences as part of the university’s Deeksharambh-2026 orientation series.Addressing the students, Satyadev highlighted the growing influence of social media and AI on modern life, describing them as powerful tools to transform communication, learning and decision-making. He said social media is no longer limited to bringing people together, but also shaping public opinion, behavior, decision-making and social relationships.Discussing the impact of AI, he said the technology has brought unprecedented speed, efficiency and convenience to various aspects of life. However, it warned that indiscriminate or unethical use of AI could pose challenges to human sensibilities, original thinking and creativity.Satyadev urged students to adopt a balanced and informed approach while utilizing digital platforms and emerging technologies. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining digital ethics and critical thinking in an increasingly technology-driven world.During the interactive session, students asked questions about social media addiction, fake news, cybersecurity, digital ethics, and the future of AI. Speakers responded with practical examples and advised students to become responsible digital citizens.
