new delhi [India]June 30: Artificial intelligence has become one of the most sought-after skills in the modern workforce. Organizations across industries are making significant investments in AI, machine learning, automation, and data-driven transformation efforts. But as AI adoption matures, new challenges are emerging. Many professionals can build models and generate insights, but far fewer know how to translate that output into structured decisions that drive measurable business outcomes.
This gap becomes increasingly important as organizations move from experimenting with AI to implementing AI. Predictive models predict demand, identify risks, and recommend actions. Generative AI summarizes information, automates workflows, and accelerates analysis. But ultimately business value comes from organizations making better decisions. The ability to evaluate alternatives, optimize outcomes, manage uncertainty, and act on insights generated by AI is rapidly becoming a critical professional competency.
Recognizing this shift, the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (CEP) launched the Applied AI, ML and Decision Science Program, an eight-month live online program designed to help professionals build capabilities beyond AI modeling. The program combines applied AI and machine learning with decision science and optimization to create an integrated learning experience that prepares participants to go from building models to driving real-world business impact.
At the heart of this program is the simple but increasingly relevant idea that AI generates insights. Decision science enables action. While many AI programs focus on algorithms, coding, and model development, CEP IIT Delhi’s program introduces decision science as a dedicated pillar. This allows learners to not only build AI-powered solutions, but also apply structured decision-making frameworks, predictive techniques, optimization models, and analytical techniques that help organizations make better choices.
This program is one of the few offerings in India that explicitly combines applied AI, machine learning, and decision science within one learning journey. Participants will develop expertise across data preparation, machine learning, cognitive AI, generative AI, and agent systems, while also learning statistical decision-making, predictive modeling, simulation techniques, optimization frameworks, and business decision-making methodologies. The result is an end-to-end functional stack that spans building the system, interpreting the output, and creating impact.
The curriculum is designed around practice. Attendees will learn how to apply AI and decision-making techniques to real-world business challenges through case studies, quizzes, hands-on exercises, industry-related projects, and a comprehensive capstone. Leverage tools like Python, Tableau, Solver, and LINGO to ensure that your learning is grounded in real-world implementation, not just theory.
Delivered through live online sessions led by Delhi Technological University faculty, the program combines academic rigor with practical relevance. Participants will benefit from direct interaction with faculty while developing skills that can be immediately applied within their organizations. An optional campus immersion at IIT Delhi* during the final month (*transportation and accommodation costs for campus immersion are to be paid by participants) provides an opportunity to experience the Institute environment and interact with peers at no additional program fees.
This program is designed for entry-level and mid-career professionals across data, analytics, technology, engineering, product, consulting, operations, and business functions. As organizations increasingly seek out professionals who can connect AI capabilities to business outcomes, there is a growing demand for individuals who can not only build intelligent systems but understand how to use them to make decisions.
This increased relevance is already reflected in the diversity of professionals considering the program. Past participants and applicants include software engineers, analytics professionals, consultants, product managers, business analysts, and technology leaders looking to enhance their ability to apply AI in decision-making situations. Many companies are looking to move beyond technical execution and develop the strategic capabilities needed to impact business outcomes.

For professionals, the value of this integrated approach lies in its practical relevance. Graduates of this program will be equipped with the ability to build AI and machine learning solutions, evaluate and interpret output, apply optimization and predictive frameworks, and turn insights into action. These capabilities are becoming increasingly important as organizations seek talent who can bridge the gap between technology and business performance.
As AI continues to reshape industries, technical expertise alone will not be enough. The next generation of experts will not only excel in their ability to build models, but also in their ability to make better decisions. IIT Delhi is responding to this need by preparing professionals for a future where intelligence and decision-making need to work in tandem with the launch of the Applied AI, ML and Decision Science program.
