If you’re debating the best AI chatbots, Anthropic’s Claude should be mentioned. Some would say it’s the best AI app of its kind out there right now (especially those who write code for a living).
Although Claude doesn’t cover as much ground as some of its competitors (there’s no AI image generation tool here, for example), it excels in certain key areas and comes with a number of features to explore.
These tips and tricks show you what Claude can do and what you can do with it. AI Bot is available on the web and has apps for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. You don’t have to pay to use Claude, but subscription plans starting at $20 per month offer higher usage limits and access to more features.
As always, weigh the environmental impact and ethics of scraping work from human creators before using an AI platform.
1. Ask Claude to investigate
If you really want Claude to dig deeper into the answer, you can wait a few more minutes. Also, if you are using a paid plan, + In the prompt box, type (plus) the study toggle switch.
After you fill in the prompt, Claude launches into deep online research, compiling the best sources on the web to gather the requested information. This appears as a fully formatted document that can be read in chat or exported elsewhere.
This can be used in all sorts of ways, whether you want an in-depth explanation of 20th century American literature or a report on the current state of the semiconductor industry. Claude lists his sources after completion, so you can double-check that your facts are correct.
2. Create visualizations using Claude

Although Claude can’t create images in the same way as ChatGPT or Gemini, it does create diagrams, charts, and visualizations in its web and desktop apps. Simply type your request at the prompt, such as “Visualize…”, followed by whatever you want.
For example, you can request an interactive graph showing the world’s population over time, a visualization showing how a rocket works, or a diagram of a human cell. Almost any information Claude can gather can be turned into some sort of graphic.
3. Connect Claude to other apps
Claude can be plugged into various other apps. These plugins are called connectors. + Click the (plus) button in the prompt box, connector Browse what’s available and access and manage the plugins you’ve already added.
There are many connectors to choose from. Spotify is one of the connectors you can add, so you can generate playlists from Claude and export them to your account. You can also connect to Gmail and use Claude’s prompts to analyze and organize the contents of your inbox.
4. Set limits on Claude’s responses

Note that Claude’s prompts may include instructions on how to answer or questions about what information is required. So you can tell the AI to keep its responses within a certain number of words, or have it return responses in bullet points, for example.
This works equally well in terms of style and tone. Include this instruction if you need to explain it briefly or at a highly technical level. You can also give Claude different personalities, such as a friendly science professor or a knowledgeable tour guide.
5. Use Claude to summarize documents
Click or tap to + Press the (plus) button in the prompt box to Add files or photos (web and desktop) or file (on mobile), you can give Claude documents to work on (emails, letters, reports, essays, whatever you have) and have the AI summarize them for you.
Like any other prompt, you can set parameters for Claude to work with. You can specify the length of the summary or specific details you need to know. If appropriate, also include a question in the prompt (for example, “How should I answer?”).
6. Ask Claude to tell you what he’s looking at.

If you’re using Claude on your phone, you can use an additional trick. You can point your phone’s camera at something and have the AI tell you what it’s looking at. Tap the + (plus) button in the prompt box,[カメラ]Tap to take a snap to use with the prompt.
For example, you can ask about a particular type of flower, find out the meaning of a particular road sign, or look up a dish you’ve never heard of on a menu. Claude should also be able to read and analyze text within captured images.
7. Switch to Claude Voice Mode for a more natural chat
You’ll see an icon that looks like a sound wave in the bottom right corner of the prompt box, which you can tap to enable voice mode. You say a prompt and the AI speaks a response, just as if you were having a natural conversation.
This method of working is especially useful when your hands are busy with other things, or when you’re traveling (perhaps driving a car). This is different from tapping the microphone icon. Tap the microphone icon to change your voice to text-based prompts.

Don’t ignore Claude’s web search capabilities. This feature is + Prompt Box (Plus) Button and Enable web search. You can use it to search anything on the web, but also get the latest headlines.
Just use the prompt to ask for the latest trending stories on your favorite topics (sports, technology, science, etc.) and Claude will respond. You can also customize the response by telling Claude how many stories you want and how much detail you want for each story.
9. Create files from within Claude
In addition to replying within a conversation, Claude can also create files in PDF, Word, Excel, or PowerPoint format. Combine this with everything else Claude can do, and you can just say the type of file you want at the prompt and get great results.
So, for example, you might not only have Claude draft a letter to the principal of your child’s school, but you might also have it ready in PDF format. Or, if you have a speech tip in mind, you can send it directly to a Word document.
Whether you need a spreadsheet to help with financial planning or a slideshow to easily explain your DNA, Claude can help. This is especially useful for creating any type of template that you can download and edit yourself if you wish.
