On June 4, an approximately 12-second video was posted on X from the official handle of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), purporting to show the development under the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Patna. (archive)
Please look forward to it!

On June 4, the official X-handle of the Indian National Congress slammed the viral clip as an “AI-generated fake video.”

fact check
We pointed out that the Bihar state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party had responded to the Congress’s claims. They uploaded a comparison video and added daytime clips of real locations (i.e. Lohia Path Chakra, Atal Path, JP Ganga Path) that correspond to the locations shown in the viral clip.

After further investigation, we were able to determine the exact location allegedly shown in the video uploaded by the BJP.
The first place is here, as shown in the comparison below.

The second site shows a viaduct and can be geolocated here.

Similarly, the third location is here.

The fourth and final location shown in the clip can be found here.

However, when I looked at the clip more closely, I noticed some irregularities.
The Hindi text on the signboard that appears in the first few sections of the video doesn’t make sense. Additionally, the movement of the couple walking on the left side of the road near the 0:04 timestamp is garbled, making them appear to be walking backwards. At the 0:09 timestamp, a motorcycle traveling on the highway disappeared into thin air.
Another glaring contradiction was the lack of fancy lighting on the highway structures. What you should be careful about here is the comparison of uploaded videos. @BTC4Bihar The June 5 video was shot during the day, so the decorative, bright white lighting shown in the viral clip is not illuminated.
Representatives from Alt News visited four locations in Patna overnight and recorded videos to assess whether the visuals in the clips accurately reflected reality on the ground. Check out the comparison below.
This study shows that the structures shown in the viral clip, which at first glance appear to be generated by AI, are very real. However, we do not ignore the fact that there are some inconsistencies throughout the viral clip, such as object rendering and text irregularities.
Most importantly, the video evidence we collected from the scene clearly shows that the buildings and roads were not lit up in the way depicted in the viral clip. This means that the actual inputs of these locations across Patna have been artificially embellished by the AI, especially the lights, to produce the clips in question.
We also ran the virus clip through Hive’s AI detection tools. The platform said the clip had a 99.4% chance of containing AI-generated content.

After further investigation, we were able to trace the origin of the AI-enhanced video to a creator on Instagram named Ujjal Singh (@uujjwwall). The user had uploaded this viral clip on June 2, a few days before it was circulated by the BJP on social media.
Users uploaded comparisons between this AI-moderated clip and the original video, clearly showing how the AI enhanced the lighting and shadows.
In conclusion, this shows that feeding real photos or videos to an AI system can produce enhanced or distorted representations, even when the depicted structures are based on real-world details. Although such content may not technically be AI-generated (as it is not artificially “created” but simply “altered” from existing footage), the fact remains that the resulting representation may no longer accurately reflect reality.
