A multi-year collaboration to help companies modernize legacy systems, free up data, and apply AI across core business operations.
June 11, 2026

Armonk, NY and Santa Clara, CA – June 11, 2026 – IBM (NYSE: IBM) and ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), the AI control tower for business reinvention, today announced an expanded collaboration to address the two biggest barriers to enterprise AI at scale: AI-enabled data issues and legacy application layers. The partnership aims to combine IBM’s AI, data, and automation capabilities with the ServiceNow AI platform to help businesses break through outdated systems and leverage data for AI. IBM and ServiceNow plan to help the world’s largest enterprises unlock the transformative value of agent AI by modernizing aging systems, extending the ServiceNow Workflow Data Fabric with IBM’s enterprise data capabilities, and delivering a joint solution that enables autonomous IT operations.
Decades of deeply interconnected legacy systems are the biggest barrier to moving AI forward quickly. IBM and ServiceNow are changing that by building solutions that help organizations evolve rather than replace existing systems, run AI in any model they choose, and get the most out of their enterprise data.
“Most companies have ambitions to deploy agent AI, but lack the infrastructure to do it at scale.” John Aisien, general manager and senior vice president of central product management at ServiceNow.. “IBM provides the tools to modernize your systems and extend the data capabilities of ServiceNow. ServiceNow provides the platform to leverage that data in every workflow of your business. Together, we are helping enterprises move from AI goals to real, scalable outcomes.”
“Deploying AI at scale requires more than just access to models; we need to rethink the systems, data, and governance that support them.” Raj Dutta, General Manager, ISV and AI Partnerships, IBM. “Together with ServiceNow, we are building an open and flexible AI foundation that helps businesses move faster while maintaining control and trust.”
The partnership aims to integrate IBM’s software solutions with the ServiceNow AI platform to create new solutions for customers across three key areas:
- Application modernization: Tools like IBM Bob, Enterprise Application Runtime (Java), and IBM watsonx.data are used to scan and refactor legacy systems, allowing businesses to bring old applications into the AI era without starting from scratch.
- Enterprise data governance: Extend the ServiceNow Workflow Data Fabric with IBM watsonx.data and leverage the ServiceNow Data Catalog to unlock key capabilities such as data quality, observability, and master data management to help our mutual customers keep their data AI-enabled.
- Autonomous infrastructure operations: Integrate Red Hat Ansible, IBM Bob, Instana, Hashicorp Terraform, and Hashicorp Vault into your ServiceNow IT workflow to detect, remediate, and resolve issues before they impact your business.
These joint solutions are expected to be available in the second half of 2026.
