The government on Saturday announced the official launch of the national online literacy course on artificial intelligence, “AI for Everyone”. The main objective of this initiative is to help the public understand AI comprehensively and use these technologies confidently, safely, and responsibly.
Through this initiative, the Government is making AI education available to all citizens and residents of Malta and Gozo over the age of 14. The launch of this program marks another important milestone towards Malta Vision 2050, ensuring the country has the necessary capabilities to navigate the current and future digital environment.
Developed by the Malta Digital Innovation Agency (MDIA) in partnership with the University of Malta, this self-paced course is available online for free. Strategically designed to accommodate individuals of all demographics and professional backgrounds, no prerequisite technical expertise is required.
This course introduces basic concepts of AI in an easy-to-understand manner and highlights practical applications of AI to increase productivity, enhance continuous learning, and foster innovation in everyday life. Upon completion of the foundational modules, participants can pursue specialized industry-specific tracks along their career trajectory and ultimately receive an official certificate upon completion.
To ensure Maltese and Gozitan citizens have easy access to these tools, the government is launching an international partnership with OpenAI and Microsoft. Through this collaboration, individuals who complete the approximately two-hour course will receive a free one-year subscription to either ChatGPT Plus or Microsoft 365 Personal Copilot. As a result, those who complete the course will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in their daily lives, further improving their quality of life and work, the government said.
