The funniest AI slop video takes GTA gangbangers into World War I and World War II

AI Video & Visuals

Gorm The Old, YouTuber and AI extraordinaire, has released a new video that could be his biggest hit yet. It is an overview of the most important events of World War I and World War II, fully animated through clips from “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” and modified to take place throughout Europe and the Mediterranean.

The result may not be the most historically accurate use of military uniforms or tactics, but it’s still hilarious for World War history buffs and GTA: San Andreas fans alike.

By the way, “AI slop freak” is not criticizing Gorm. He freely admits that nearly all of his videos are made with AI, using the tagline “AI slop you can’t help but love,” and the thumbnails of most of his videos say “100% AI.”

But he uses the technology for legitimately funny and creative mashups, such as showing the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand if it happened on Grove Street in San Andreas. (If you want to see the World War II version, you can always watch it on YouTube.)

GTA World War II Nazi Germany
To be honest, this is probably what most people in Europe were thinking throughout the 1930s.

And there’s something perfect about depicting a world war in a video game whose most famous meme is “Oh, here we go again.”

Members of the Grove Street family gang fared well in both World War I and World War II, surviving the assassination of the Archduke in 1914 and the rise of the Nazi Party in 1933 until near the end of both wars.

Carl “CJ” Johnson of World War I primarily fought for Britain, taking part in the Christmas Truce and later the infamous Gallipoli landings. He also waved French flags at departing troops, reinforced French troops at Le Marne, and died wearing an almost German-looking military uniform. So he’s like the Forrest Gump of World War I.

GTA World War I Christmas Armistice
I think the script choice of “My bad, homie” is great here, but it would have made more sense coming from a German CJ than a British CJ.

During World War II, he witnessed the invasion of Poland, danced on rooftops during the Battle of Britain, told a Japanese torpedo bomber “Welcome to America” at Pearl Harbor, and parachuted into Italy. During the Battle of the Bulge, he shouts “Grove Street for Life!” to American GIs, but somehow ends up fighting for the Germans. He then quickly flees to Argentina, which is kind of funny.

By the end of 1944 the Germans were getting pretty desperate, but it’s probably worth investigating how likely they were to accept black Angelenos into their military.

This is not surprising, but the scene is a humorous animation without much focus on historical details. Other than the use of a handgun, the Grand Duke’s assassination is much more similar to the failed first attempt that day than the actually successful second attempt.

Many of the uniforms are pretty bad. And for some reason, the battleships at Pearl Harbor are firing their biggest naval guns at Japanese fighters and bombers, which seems like a questionable tactic.

Hey CJ, famously, Japanese planes aren’t actually welcome in America.

But you know, how many tokens do you expect Gorm to spend trying to pinpoint the details of a video depicting a 1990s Los Angeles gangbanger brandishing an AK-47 in a 1944 battle?

If you want to learn more about military history from very shallow and questionable internet sources, here are 9 hilarious memes that will teach you real military history.

And hopefully we don’t let Gorm start another world war. Although it might be interesting to see CJ sucking up Rip-Itz during the rush into Tehran.
