Plaintiffs include the owners of h3h3Productions, H3 Podcast, H3 Podcast Highlights, MrShortGame Golf, and Golfholics.
They claim that YouTube videos may have been collected and used to train AI models. The complaint states that such actions may violate the DMCA, which protects digital content.
Allegations include allegedly circumventing platform safeguards
The complaint says Apple may have circumvented technical safeguards designed to prevent large-scale data scraping. Plaintiffs allege that this allowed access to large amounts of copyrighted video content without notifying or obtaining permission from the creators.
As supporting evidence, they mention research publications that allegedly mention the use of certain videos from their channel in the AI training process.
Plaintiffs demand ban and compensation
The creators are asking for further use of their content to be stopped and are demanding compensation. The lawsuit was filed not only on their behalf, but also on behalf of other U.S.-based content creators who may have faced similar issues.
The complaint highlights that such practices raise broader concerns within the digital content ecosystem, especially amid the rapid growth of generative AI technologies.
