LUCKNOW: Students from classes IX to XII will now learn artificial intelligence (AI) as part of a vocational training program under ‘Project Praveen’ launched by the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM).

The initiative aims to empower youth with technology and will benefit more than 200,000 students in 1,200 schools.

Based on this, a 4-hour specialized course titled “AI For All” will be conducted for all trainers and students in public secondary schools. Through this course, students will strengthen their problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and digital literacy.

According to Pulkit Khare, director of UPSDM, the AI course will not only prepare students for competition but also help them develop important skills such as data analysis and innovative problem solving.

“Practical AI knowledge in specific industries such as tailoring, healthcare and IT will enable students to work smarter and more efficiently in their respective fields,” he said.

Reflecting students’ interests, four-hour AI modules were developed that focused on popular job roles such as IT Customer Care Executive, Self-Employed Tailor, Healthcare, Digital Mitra, and Soap Maker.

Before the start of the 2026-2027 academic session, UPSDM has asked all instructors to complete training on the “AI For All” course. In addition, trainers in the five core positions undergo specialized advanced subject-specific courses.

Project Praveen is a comprehensive 210-hour free skill development program designed for government secondary school students. Alongside your regular studies, this program will develop job-specific skills in fields such as IT, beauty, healthcare and electronics.

“The AI course will give students a fundamental understanding of AI and its practical applications, turning future technological challenges into opportunities,” Carre said.
