New Delhi: The Kerala Police has launched a criminal investigation into an AI-generated video allegedly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission of India, and has booked both Platform X Corp and user accounts for its distribution.The Cyber Division said authorities including the ECI had issued warnings about the video, saying it appeared to be aimed at misleading viewers and undermining confidence in key constitutional institutions at a sensitive election time.In Thiruvananthapuram, an FIR has been filed against Lakshmi N. Raju (@valiant_Raju), other unidentified persons and X Company. Investigators are looking into who created and amplified the clip, and whether there was any organized intent behind its spread.Police said the 77-second video was shared as having the potential to cause social unrest. Authorities also claim the platform failed to take action despite requests to take it down.The suit invokes provisions of the People’s Republic of India Code relating to provocation, forgery, public mischief and identity theft under the IT Act.
